A Flair for the Classical at 10:30
Worship Services Trinity
members and visitors have been treated to a wonderful emphasis on the beauty
of classical music and symphonic strings and instruments in the traditional
worship service this fall. When Bishop Willimon visited on the 5th of
November, All Saints Day Celebrated, he was treated to solos by new choir
members Darlene Shaffer and Jason Statum whose powerful baritone voice lends
an operatic feeling to match the strong soprano of Darlene. Lubitza
Braikova and her violin accompanied Jon in many of the hymns and performed a
beautiful solo during Holy Communion.
Then
on the following Sunday, Danielle Emerich drove all night following the
Alabama-LSU game to bring her talent on the oboe into our worship
service. Her performance was inspired and inspiring.
Then,
on the third successive Sunday this fall, Jon treated us to the cello.
He played the Prelude in G from Johann
Sebastian Bach's Suite No. 1 for unaccompanied cello, and then a Faure piece, "Apres un
Reve."
Molly
McGuire, another gifted UA musician, has performed in several of our
worship services accompanied by her Mom and Dad. How
good can it get?
