The Praying Hands Window |
|
| The
third window is adorned by a comparatively modern symbol, the direct
communication of the individual with God through prayer. This
is great Protestant belief. The symbol reproduces in the
stained glass the painting, "Praying Hands" of the great German
artist Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528). Added are the
circle representing God or Eternity, and the cross. The cross has a
background resembling flame and smoke ascending heavenward, symbolic of
prayer.
This window was given in memory of Lt. Hal C. Jones by his mother, Mrs. H. H. Jones. |
