The Crown Of Thorns Window

The fourth window symbolizes the Passion of our Lord.  The Crown of Thorns represents the derision of the mob;  and the Latin cross, the type upon which Jesus died, recalls His suffering.  The inscription, INRI, the first letters of the Latin words for "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews" (Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum)  commonly appears in symbols of our Lord's Passion.

This window was given by Circle Two, Women's Society of Christian Service, 1949, "to the glory of God and the promotion of His way of life."
