Trinity United Methodist Church in Tuscaloosa is the successor to Brandon Memorial Methodist Church which was founded by the North Alabama Conference in 1911, a hundred years ago, TO SERVE THE YOUNG COLLEGE WAY OUT ON THE EAST SIDE OF TOWN. Here we still are today, right across Bryant Drive from the campus, halfway between Bryant Denny Football Stadium and Coleman Coliseum, still faithful to the original charter, serving the students of The University of Alabama.
Here are some of the things at Trinity that might be of interest to you . . . . .

                      Title 10:30 Sunday Morning Worship

On Sunday mornings during the school year, Trinity members thrill to the almost full sanctuary because the students are back!  We have a traditional liturgy, but you will find that our pastors conduct a very lively and congenial worship service, and the sermons are always thought-provoking, timely and well-received.

Under the mentorship of our senior pastor, U.A. students who are Trinity interns may preach, and on at least one Sunday during the semesters, U.A. students conduct the worship service.   Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month and in the Busby Chapel on other Sundays.

Students are encouraged to participate in all aspects of  Trinity programs--Christian nurture, missions, worship, campus outreach.  You don't have to be a member of Wesley Foundation to be a "regular" at Trinity, although many of our "regulars" are.  We encourage students to maintain membership in their home churches, but we have an affiliate membership for those who want to call us their "home church" away from home.

SoulFood Section Title ImageWednesday Night Supper at Trinity

Wednesday Nights At Trinity are now called "SoulFood."  We provide food for the body (the parish meal and fellowship at 5:20 p.m.) and food for the soul (various activities for adults, youth and children that start at 6:00 to 6:15 pm).

This year, we are thrilled that one of our own congregation, a superb cook, will be designing the  menus and doing her special brand of "home cooking."  At the link below, you can make a reservation.  Actually, this helps us to buy and prepare just the right amount, as we have the facilities to accommodate a pretty large crowd.  At $4.00 per student, we have called the meal the best cheap meal in Tuscaloosa, and if you join the choir, it's free.

The adult activities aimed at the regular members of Trinity may include programmed studies, Bible study, biblical archeology & history, special social gospel topics, hands-on mission projects, banner construction and other activities.  College students are welcomed to participate in these, too, although there is a special Bible study for college students--elevate.

Elevate Section Title Image          Mid-week College Bible Study

Elevate is one of two options for college students at mid-week--the other being supper at Trinity.  Scheduled for Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. right after supper, it's for all students.  It provides a provocative look at the Bible for making the Scriptures real and lively for the issues students face daily on campus.

This program is a "back-and-forth" dialog--not a lecture!  The presentation of the topic and the ensuing discussions will be led by some of the most interesting and college student-friendly members of our congregation.   As the group begins to be formed this fall, topics will be selected based on feedback from the students.  Each week will be a stand-alone study, and you won't get behind if you miss an occasional class.

We know your time is valuable, and your priorities are your academic studies, so this program will stick to a timetable that will respect your needs.  This break in your hard-charging schedule will not only give you much-needed respite, but the lessons learned from the Scriptures studied and the inspiration that comes from the Holy Spirit will help you grow in your faith.

Come see what God has to say to you this Wednesday . . . . and bring a friend.

We have had wonderful participation in the choir by students.  Especially if one of your God-given talents is a great vocal ability, please consider using this talent to the glory of God in our worship service by joining the choir.

If your musical talents are instrumental--if you play an instrument, if you are in the band, if you are majoring in keyboard or instrumental performance--please volunteer.  We have experienced wonderful musical performances from students and faculty--from embellished hymns to solo performances that transform the routine worship service to something heavenly.

Our Director of Music Ministry, Kevin Chance, does a wonderful job choosing a music program that uses all the talents in our choir. We are blessed every week by the wonderful student voices in our choir.

Be a part of the choir if you have the talent.  Doing so will get you free supper at our Wednesday Night At Trinity.

Vocal talent is not the only talent that brings beauty into the Trinity musical experience.

Are you a tad bit homesick?  Do you want to have a Tuscaloosa family during your college years?  A family who will give you support and encouragement, advice and assistance--and maybe a dinner on occasion?

Adopt-A-Student is our way of letting you know that we care for you and your well-being while you are here in T'town, and that if you need us, there will always be someone available for you.

This year, this program will be ready for you when you come on campus, so that will be one of the first things we will tell you about when you come to Trinity.  Watch and listen up in church for information about signing up for Adopt-A-Student.
