Trinity United Methodist Church in Tuscaloosa is the successor to Brandon Memorial Methodist Church which was founded by the North Alabama Conference in 1911, almost a hundred years ago, TO SERVE THE YOUNG COLLEGE WAY OUT ON THE EAST SIDE OF TOWN. Here we still are today, right across Bryant Drive from the campus, halfway between Bryant Denny Football Stadium and Coleman Coliseum, still faithful to the original charter, serving the students of The University of Alabama.
here are some of the things at trinity that might be of interest to you . . . . . . .

Sunday mornings during the school year, Trinity members thrill to the
almost full sanctuary because the students are back! We have a
traditional liturgy, but you will find that our pastors conduct a very
lively and congenial worship service, and the sermons are always
thought-provoking, timely and well-received.
Under the mentorship of our senior pastor, U.A. students who are Trinity interns may preach, and on at least one Sunday during the semesters, U.A. students conduct the worship service. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month and in the Busby Chapel on other Sundays. Students are encouraged to participate in all aspects of Trinity programs--Christian nurture, missions, worship, campus outreach. You don't have to be a member of Wesley Foundation to be a "regular" at Trinity, although many of our "regulars" are. We encourage students to maintain membership in their home churches, but we have an affiliate membership for those who want to call us their "home church" away from home. |

Elevate is our brand new this year program for college students. Scheduled for Sunday evenings at 6 p.m., it's aimed primarily at incoming freshmen, and it provides a provocative look at the Bible for making the Scriptures real and lively for the issues students face daily on campus. It's going to be a "back-and-forth" dialog--not a lecture! A short presentation of the topic will be followed by break-out table discussions led by some of the most interesting and college student-friendly members of our congregation. Homemade desserts will be served before, during and/or after the study period, and we will open Quirkey's afterwards for continued discussion or just hanging out. (Don't know what Quirkey's is? Are you a tad bit homesick? Do you want to have a Tuscaloosa family during your college years? A family who will give you support and encouragement, advice and assistance--and maybe a dinner on occasion? Adopt-A-Student is our way of letting you know that we care for you and your well-being while you are here in T'town, and that if you need us, there will always be someone available for you. This year, this program will be ready for you when you come on campus, so that will be one of the first things we will tell you about when you come to Trinity. Watch and listen up in church for information about signing up for Adopt-A-Student.

We have had wonderful participation in the choir by students. Especially if one of your God-given talents is a great vocal ability, please consider using this talent to the glory of God in our worship service by joining the choir. For the past year, we have been blessed with the services of Jim Taylor as Director of Music Ministry. Jim is a gifted vocal director who is working on his doctorate. Jim has brought us an incredibly inspiring program of vocal and instrumental performances that have enhanced our worship immensely. Be a part of the choir if you have the talent. Doing so will get you free supper at our Wednesday Night At Trinity. |

Wednesday Nights At Trinity are now called "SoulFood." We provide food for the body (the parish meal and fellowship at 5:20 p.m.) and food for the soul (various activities for adults, youth and children that start at 6:10 p.m.). At $4.00 per student, we have called the meal the best cheap meal in Tuscaloosa, and if you join the choir, it's free. The adult activities may include programmed studies, Bible study, biblical archeology & history, special social gospel topics, hands-on mission projects, banner construction and other activities--and students are welcomed to participate in these, too.
