Vacation Bible School 2008

Our church’s nurture team, under the leadership of Martha Strickland and Rev. Michelle Hunter, is planning a wonderful Vacation Bible School experience for all the children in our community.

To make it the success God wants it to be, we all need to play and pray our part!

  • Can you do crafts?

  • Can you read stories?

  • Can you hold a child’s hand as they move from one station to the next?

  • Have a passion for snacks and “snacking?” (and I know some of you do!)

  • Do you have a passion and concern for the children in our community?

If so, get involved!  It is so easy to be a part of this crucial ministry—a ministry that I have seen change the lives of entire families.

At the very least, each of us can invite one child from our neighborhood, group of friends, extended family or coworkers.  Please prayerfully consider inviting one child to come and be touched by the love of Christ at work in our church family.  It may be the turning point in their young lives!!

We have an awesome kickoff picnic planned for May 28th on the lawn of the church.  There will be games, activities and inflatables designed for children and adults!! YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS THIS NIGHT OF FUN WITH YOUR CHURCH FAMILY!

To participate in Vacation Bible School, contact Rev. Michelle Hunter at 759-4206 and join us in praying that God will touch and bless this ministry!                                                                                                 -wg

New Brotherhood Class

First, we already have the New Brotherhood Class which meets in Room 107.  Geary Hewett, former pastor of East Brookwood Missionary Baptist, is currently leading this intergenerational class in Warren Wiersbe’s study of the Book of Acts.  Their particular focus is looking at the early church, as described in Acts, as the definitive outline of what the church should be doing in the world today.  This class also works each month with the East Tuscaloosa Soup Bowl providing lunches for the poor in our community.

The Beehive

We also have a women’s class, the Beehive, that meets in Quirkey’s. (a room adjoining the Fellowship Hall in the basement)  Currently, they are studying women of the Bible.  They would love to have any women of the church come and join them!

NEW CLASS INFO

This Sunday, November 4th, we will be starting our new class!  It will meet on the 2nd floor across from the choir room.  (come up the stairs by Michelle’s office, turn right and it is the second room on the right)  For starters, we will be getting to know one another and exploring ways to connect with God spiritually.  Over the last two millennia of Christianity, leaders and pioneers of our faith have written down and shared wonderful wisdom about creating and/or developing a spiritual life.  What does it mean to be spiritual?  How do I experience God’s presence daily?  How do I open my heart, my life my relationships and my family to the touch of God?  Drawing on ancient and modern texts, we will journey together toward that everlasting well of life—knowing and walking with Jesus.  Come join us!
