Carolyn Tubb Friday

TUSCALOOSA Carolyn Tubb Friday, age 83, of Tuscaloosa, died Jan. 21, 2008, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Wade Griffith and Rev. Charles Boling officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Thursday night from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Her parents, Frank and Virginia Tubb, her sister, Mary McConatha, and her brothers, Frank Tubb and Hal Tubb, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Neil Friday; daughters, Fran Tewkesbury (Ted) of Greensboro, N.C., Claire Sutowski (Thor) of Tuscaloosa, and Rachel Friday of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Jean Coryea, June Hamner, and Sue Coleman, all of Tuscaloosa; brother, Robert Tubb (Louise) of Cedar Creek, Texas; and grandchildren, Edward, Gracie, and Annie Tewkesbury, all of Greensboro, N.C.

Pallbearers will be Todd Turner, Chris Turner, Allen Coleman, Kyle Coleman, Grady Friday, and Hugh Friday.

Honorary pallbearers are Ronald Alvarez, M.D., John Summerford, M.D., Jo Ann Baronowski, Betty, Linda and Mel from Caring Missions, Hospice of West Alabama, Trinity United Methodist Church, West End Friends Group, various club groups, and Friday Oil Company employees.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cansurvive Support Group c/o Brenda Lamb, UAB GYN Oncology, 1201 11th Ave. S., Birmingham, AL 35205.
