Christian Nurture at Trinity
Christian Nurture Chair: Martha Strickland Christian education at Trinity encompasses opportunities for learning more and more about our Christian heritage, the Word, and what it means to live as God's special people in the world around us, growing stronger in our faith at all ages in the spectrum of life. We offer programs for the children and youth, for the college student, and for adults in the congregation. Our learning opportunities are not limited to our membership but include an open door to all who are searching and seeking the Truth.

Youth Ministry Trinity's youth program, coordinated by Beth Sherrill, provides our teens and sub-teen youth an opportunity to have fun-filled fellowship and practical experiences in discipleship and "doing unto others." Some years, the program is directed by a member of the ministerial staff, and in other years, Beth is ably assisted by volunteer Youth Directors who are service-oriented University students. This is one such year in which Jennifer Brown and Michelle Dunning provide co-directorship. The programs include retreats, the Discovery Program and service projects, including one which was featured on UMTV--a web-based national United Methodist news program.

Wednesday Night Programs Study Hour follows the Wednesday Night Fellowship Dinner, beginning at 6:15 p.m. There are generally three programs offered to adults and one for children--The Care & Share Club. Annette Watters coordinates this Christian education fest, lining up the speakers and frequently participating as a presenter, using her knowledge of church history, biblical archeology and church art. The Wednesday Night adult education programs include: A spiritual topic A bible study A crafts workshop New this year, the bible study consists of an open discussion seminar based on the prior Sunday's sermon. In this informal, relaxed setting, members of the congregation have their opportunity to dialog with the pastor on the points made in the sermon, and the session ends with a discussion of how to apply the lessons learned to our lives.

Nursery Ministry For all church events, especially the Christian nurture programs, there are those who make it possible for the moms and dads to enjoy the event, knowing that their toddler children are being supervised in the nursery by trained caretakers. Missy Head recruits and orients the loving nursery attendants who are certified in infant child care.

Sarah Caldwell Ruth Cabiness Church History and Archives Want to see a picture of Andy Hinson with hair? Or, how about a picture of the old Brandon Memorial Methodist Church, Trinity’s immediate predecessor? The history of Trinity is well-documented, and the organization of this voluminous material is the work of the Archives committee under the direction of Sarah Caldwell and Ruth Cabiness. If you like to “scrapbook” or would want to help preserve the present events so that future Trinitarians will know their past history, please volunteer.
